    <abstract>Titanium dioxide (TiO2) has been widely used in the field of pollutant degradation, virus killer and environment protection. In this paper, 8 nm TiO2 nanoparticles were synthesized using TiOSO4·2H2O precursor. The samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and Raman scattering. XRD results show sharp peaks post-annealing, indicating crystallinity. TEM confirms nanoparticles are about 8 nm in diameter. Raman patterns also confirm anatase phase. These characteristics make the nanoparticles suitable for self-cleaning coatings.</abstract>
