Among the major changes that occurred in the context of architecture in Iron Age was the construction of columned halls in the ancient East. This study aimed to understand the structure, technique, and style of columned halls in Iran, Anatolia, and the Caucasus between the second and first millennium BC. Initially used for religious and ritual ceremonies, the function of these halls evolved with the emergence of the Apadana pattern into reception and ceremonial halls.
