Investigation of operational parameters on copper bromide laser output power

Abstract

In this work, a copper bromide laser with an active medium length of 58 cm and an inner diameter of 20 mm was designed and constructed using He and Ne as buffer gases. The influence of reservoir temperature, buffer gas pressure, frequency, and electrical input power on laser output power was studied. Optimal efficiency was achieved at 2.1 kW input power and 510°C. Maximum output powers of 4 W (He, 11 torr) and 6 W (Ne, 24 torr) were recorded. The frequency dependence displayed oscillatory behavior due to acoustic resonance. These findings provide insights for optimizing CuBr laser performance.
