This paper examines the qualitative effects of marl formations on the distribution of Quaternary deposits in Tehran province. Marls, particularly sensitive to erosion, are classified as evaporative or non-evaporative based on mineral content. Using geological maps, satellite imagery, and field surveys, the study identifies the prevalence of erosion forms (e.g., badland, gully, rill, and tunnel erosion) associated with different marl units. The analysis highlights marl’s major role in sediment production and the geomorphological development of the region, particularly in areas with minimal vegetation cover and extreme lithological properties.
